Where It Started

Baytail Co started with two best friends, a lifelong love for animals, and a lot of conversations about what came next.

Skylar had just graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Business Finance and was trying to figure out what direction life was supposed to take next. Zoe was finishing photography school and working locally in Annapolis, feeling pretty much the same way.

We’ve been friends since ninth grade, and animals have always been a huge part of both of our lives. At one point, Skylar started thinking about joining a pet-care platform as a way to spend more time doing something she genuinely loved. But the more we talked about it, the more the idea grew.

We realized we didn’t just want to walk dogs. We wanted to create the kind of pet care we would actually feel comfortable trusting with our own.

So we started asking ourselves what that would look like.

Care that feels personal. People who actually learn your pet’s routine, personality, favorite things, quirks, and behaviors. Thoughtful updates while you’re away. Familiar faces walking through your front door. A business built around making pets feel just as comfortable and cared for when their people aren’t home.

Building Baytail

One conversation turned into another, and before long, entire days and plenty of late nights were being spent building what would become Baytail Co.

We officially launched in September 2025, right here in Annapolis.

What started with the two of us caring for local dogs and cats quickly became something much bigger than we expected. Every new pet taught us something. Every client who trusted us with their pet and their home reminded us just how important this job really is.

Pet care often means stepping into the moments when people need someone they can truly rely on—whether they’re traveling, stuck at work, navigating a busy week, or simply trying to give their pet a better day. Being trusted with that responsibility became one of the biggest reasons we cared so much about building Baytail the right way.

Growing With Our Community

As Baytail grew, so did the community around it. We built relationships with local pet owners and businesses throughout Annapolis, expanded the ways we could support our clients, and eventually began carefully growing our team with people who share the same approach to care that Baytail was built on.

A lot has changed since our first walk, but the reason behind Baytail hasn’t.

What Hasn’t Changed

We still believe the little things matter. We want to know where your dog likes to nap, how your cat prefers dinner, what makes your puppy nervous, and which walking route gets the happiest tail wags. We want your pet’s day to feel familiar, even when you can’t be there.

And we’re still building.

Baytail Co is growing, learning, and becoming more of what we imagined during those early conversations. But at its core, it’s still two best friends who love animals and decided to create the kind of pet care we wanted to see in our own community.
